What to do if an Aer Lingus bag is missing

Start an official report; a booking-help call cannot trace the bag.

Airline account, baggage and operational requests use the official channels.

The short answer

Report the delayed bag to the airline promptly using its airport team or official reporting route. Keep your bag tag and the delayed-baggage reference. Use the airline’s tracing tool to update and follow the case.

At the arrival airport

Keep the baggage receipt and flight details available when reporting the issue. Describe the bag clearly and verify the delivery contact information you provide. Aer Lingus asks travelers to avoid duplicate reports because they can slow tracing.

After the report

Save the airline’s report reference separately from the flight booking reference. Use the official tracing route for updates. If the address where you are staying changes, update the delivery details through that process.

WorldTracer and ReportMyBag

Aer Lingus links to ReportMyBag for the initial delayed-bag report and WorldTracer for tracing and updates. Open those tools from the official airline baggage page. Use your delayed-baggage reference when requested; it is different from the flight booking reference. Keep itemized receipts for any later expense request.

Lost property is a different problem

If you left an item in a seat pocket or at security, say exactly where it was last seen. A checked-bag report may not be the appropriate route. Use the airline or airport’s lost-property instructions for the location involved.

Common questions

Can 866-992-0376 find my suitcase?

No. It is an independent assistance line, not the airline’s baggage tracing team.

Should I create another report if there is no update?

Aer Lingus advises against duplicate reports. Follow up with your existing reference.

Is my booking reference the baggage report number?

They are different references. Use the one requested by the official tracing tool.
